The 650MW An Khanh - Bac Giang thermal power project is listed as under construction, with expected operation in 2029. Shared semiconductor laboratories become a practical bottleneck solution
Vietnam's semiconductor strategy is increasingly focused on shared infrastructure. Vietnam-China semiconductor cooperation enters a more implementation-focused stage
Recent semiconductor discussions involving Vietnamese companies and regional partners show that the sector is moving from broad strategic dialogue toward implementation. FPT has announced steps in advanced semiconductor testing and packaging and has signed cooperation agreements with international partners. Public information also indicates that FPT aims to commercialise Vietnamese-designed chip lines in markets including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China. However, for Vietnam-China semiconductor cooperation specifically, publicly verifiable information still does not show detailed order quantities, contract values or delivery timelines. This means that the cooperation should be described as moving toward execution, while avoiding overstating confirmed orders.
Hanoi's proposed AI and data-centre complex remains a proposal
Hanoi is studying a proposed high-tech, innovation and data-centre complex with an estimated scale of US$4-6 billion. Government media reports indicate that the proposal covers AI data centres, large-scale data centres, semiconductors, cloud computing, robotics, automation, green technology and applied research. The project is intended to support the development of a modern technology ecosystem in the western part of the capital. At the same time, it remains a proposal under research and discussion, not a completed or finally approved project.
