1. Dong Nai seeks investors for a 119.35-hectare digital technology park
Dong Nai has publicly invited investors to participate in infrastructure development for the Long Thanh Concentrated Digital Technology Park in An Phuoc and Binh An. The project covers 119.35 hectares and has total investment of approximately VND1.399 trillion.
The park is planned as a concentrated hub for information technology, research and development, technology transfer, digital-business incubation and digital services. The project therefore represents more than a conventional industrial park: it is intended to create an ecosystem that can attract technology firms, R&D activity and data-related infrastructure. Construction is planned to start in the fourth quarter of 2028, with infrastructure completion targeted for the fourth quarter of 2031.
2. Ho Chi Minh City's 50MW AI Factory remains at an early implementation stage
Ho Chi Minh City has been working with Accelerated Infrastructure Capital, Kinh Bac City Development and international partners on a proposed AI data-centre project with an expected investment scale of about US$2.1 billion. In the first phase, the plan includes a 50MW AI Factory, roughly equivalent to the computing capacity of 28,000 GPUs.
The project is strategically significant because it targets AI, high-performance computing, big-data workloads and sovereign AI demand. At the same time, it is important to distinguish planning from operation: the project has been announced through cooperation agreements and investment procedures, and should not yet be described as a fully operational 50MW GPU facility.
3. Qualcomm's 2026 challenge highlights practical AI innovation
The fifth Qualcomm Vietnam Innovation Challenge has highlighted locally developed technologies with clear real-world use cases. Naiscorp Robotics won the top prize with an edge-AI home companion robot designed to support senior care, while VIOT Energy Efficiency Platform placed third with a cloud-based AIoT energy-management solution focused on reducing energy waste in buildings.
These projects are notable because they show two directions of AI deployment that are increasingly relevant to Vietnam: human-centred robotics and energy-efficiency optimisation. Both require reliable computing, edge intelligence, sensors, connectivity and secure data handling - capabilities that strengthen the broader digital-technology ecosystem.
4. Phu Quoc combines 3MWp solar with 10MWh battery storage
Corona Resort in Phu Quoc is adding a 3MWp solar PV system together with a 10MWh Trina Storage Elementa 2 battery energy storage system. The project is being developed by Nam Viet Green Energy and is expected to connect to the grid and begin commercial operation in mid-September.
For large hospitality and commercial facilities, solar-plus-storage can increase onsite use of renewable electricity, reduce peak-demand exposure and improve energy resilience. The project also illustrates a broader shift in Vietnam: renewable generation is increasingly being paired with battery storage to improve dispatchability and power quality.
